For the 100% Design Expo 2017, I collaborated with David Krynauw and his studio to produce a modular structure capable of multiple uses. To this end, there are only 2 element types, which can be mirrored, flipped, and extended, to create a variety of structure types with only 3 simple steel joint types.
Utilising David’s unique ‘Joburg System’, wood is CNC routed to precisely interlocking forms, which are then rounded over and softened. Shown hanging from the structure is a swing chair produced concurrently.
